2019 marks Reed's first season as Angels hitting coach following appointment on Dec. 3, 2018 (replacing Eric Hinske)...Promoted after serving as the organization's minor league hitting coordinator in 2017 and 2018... Worked extensively with several current Angels major leaguers during tenure...Prior to joining Angels, was the minor league hitting coordinator from 2014-16 for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Playing Career & Misc 

Played in parts of eight seasons at Major League level for the Mariners (2004-08), Mets (2009), Blue Jays (2010) and Brewers (2011)...Posted a career .252 (315/1250) average with 141 runs scored, 67 doubles, 12 triples, 12 home runs and 110 RBI in 483 games...Was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft...Traded by the White Sox to the Mariners in 2004 with Mike Morse and Miguel Olivo in exchange for Ben Davis and Freddy Garcia...Was part of a three-team trade Dec. 11, 2008 between the Mariners, Mets and Indians which also involved former Angels Luis Valbuena, Jason Vargas and Joe Smith...Played for the USA Summer National Team in 2001 and 2002...Played collegiately at Long Beach State University (17 miles from Angel Stadium)...Was college teammates with Jered Weaver... Prepped at Bonita High School (La Verne, CA - 26 miles from Angel Stadium).
