Aybar day-to-day after limping off

Aybar day-to-day after limping off

ANAHEIM -- Angels shortstop Erick Aybar was helped off the field by team trainers after he was bowled over by the Brewers' Casey McGehee on a seventh-inning force play on Monday night at Angel Stadium.

The initial report from the Angels was hyperextension of the left knee, and Aybar was listed as day-to-day.

Aybar, who has started all but three games this season at shortstop, had his legs fully extended and exposed taking a throw from first base on a ground ball by Carlos Gomez. McGehee came in low, rolling through Aybar, who appeared to injure his left leg.

Maicer Izturis moved from third base to shortstop and Kevin Frandsen from first to third with Robb Quinlan coming off the bench to play first base. The Angels were trailing 9-2 at the time of the incident.
