Baseballs at Angel Stadium will have a special touch this season. The club announced Friday that all Rawlings baseballs used during 2011 home games will feature a commemorative 50th anniversary logo, which will honor the Angels' 50th year and give thousands of fans a chance to get their hands on a collector's item. During the course of an 81-game home schedule, the Angels use an average of 4,400 baseballs, according to a team-issued release. A lot of that is due to home runs and foul balls, which fly into the seats and into the hands of fans.
The Angels' 2011 campaign is themed More Than "A" Season and will include a 12-month celebration of 50 years of Angels baseball, including retro nights, giveaways, 81 first pitches with former Angels and more. According to a team release, "Throughout the year, Angels fans will experience a season unlike any they have ever seen before. The 50th anniversary is about the fans and their celebration of great moments throughout Angels history." More information can be found at angels.com/50.
