KANSAS CITY -- The Angels say Vernon Wells, recovering from a sore right groin, has progressed to a point where the club is thinking about a rehab assignment for the veteran outfielder.
"He's running at 100 percent," manager Mike Scioscia said. "There are some conditioning issues that he's going to continue to work through with his leg. He'll need a couple of more days to ramp that up. He's taking soft toss [Wednesday], we'll start batting practice. Hopefully, he'll be ready for a couple of games on a rehab as we get through the weekend."
Infielder Howard Kendrick (hamstring) could return to the lineup this weekend against the Yankees.
