ANAHEIM -- With a fourth-inning strikeout of Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis on Friday night at Angel Stadium, Angels ace John Lackey joined an exclusive club with 1,000 career strikeouts.
Lackey is the sixth Angels pitcher to reach the figure, with Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan -- Lackey's favorite player growing up in Abilene, Texas -- at the top of the list with 2,416 of his all-time record 5,714 lifetime strikeouts.
Trailing Ryan are Chuck Finley (2,151), Mike Witt (1,283), Frank Tanana (1,233) and Mark Langston (1,112).
Lackey entered the game with 85 career wins, placing him seventh on the franchise leaderboard. Next on the list is Clyde Wright, who won 87 games for the Angels. Finley, with 165, is the all-time club leader in victories
