ANAHEIM -- Angels reliever Hisanori Takahashi left Friday night's 8-5 win over the Dodgers with stiffness in his right hip, but the veteran left-hander doesn't believe it'll put him on the shelf for any amount of time.
Takahashi pitched a scoreless sixth inning to preserve the Angels' lead, then stiffened up while warming for the seventh and came right out of the game.
"Taka had been up real early; I think in the second inning he was [warming up in the bullpen]," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He had been up and down, and when he finally pitched in the sixth, the bottom of the sixth was a long inning. ... As that inning went on, and he went out to get his warm-ups, he just was a little bit stiff on his right side, and enough was enough. We just didn't want to stretch him tonight."
The 37-year-old Takahashi has a 4.32 ERA in 25 innings this year.
