Angels to honor 2002 Championship team

The Angels will honor the 10th anniversary of the 2002 World Series Championship as the team begins "Anniversary Week" on Monday, August 13. Scheduled festivities include honorary first pitches, special promotions & giveaways, autograph signings and the induction of the 2002 club into the Angels Hall of Fame.

On Saturday August 18th, members of the 2002 Angels will reunite at Angel Stadium and be honored in a pregame ceremony to officially induct the team into the Angels Hall of Fame. The ceremony will feature the introduction of returning players, highlight videos, and speeches from Mike Scioscia and Tim Salmon.

The 26 returning Halos will once again don their Angels jerseys featuring the 2002 World Series patch on the right sleeve. The players will later autograph the jerseys for an auction with the proceeds benefiting the Angels Baseball Foundation.

Starting Tuesday night, a member of the 2002 team will throw out the honorary first pitch prior to each night's ballgame. Tuesday will feature closer Troy Percival, followed by Garret Anderson on Wednesday and Scott Spiezio on Thursday. 2002 World Series MVP Troy Glaus will get the honors on Friday night, with General Manager Bill Stoneman tossing a pitch to manager Mike Scioscia following Saturday's Hall of Fame ceremonies.

On Thursday and Friday night, Spiezio and Glaus will hold an autograph signing outside the team store for fans that have purchased the Under the Halo Angels history book. The signing will begin at first pitch and continue for approximately one hour.

The promotions for "Anniversary Week" include:

  • Tuesday: 10th Anniversary World Series ring figurine
