ANAHEIM, CA – The Angels today announced their regular season schedule for the 2013 campaign, and includes a road season-opener in Cincinnati, Monday, April 1, and a home opener at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, Tuesday, April 9, against division rival Oakland. A finalized 2013 schedule, complete with game times, will be released later in the year.
The Angels begin 2013 with a season-opening six-game road trip to Cincinnati (April 1-4), followed by a three-game trip to Texas (April 5-7). The club returns home for a six-game homestand against Oakland (April 9-11) and new Western Division foe, the Houston Astros (April 12-14).
The 2013 schedule features 12 homestands, including a season-long 10-game slate (June 14-July 23), and 13 road trips. The club will undertake its longest road trip of the season in August with an 11-day, nine-game trek to Seattle (Aug. 23-25), Tampa Bay (Aug. 27-29) and Milwaukee (Aug. 30-Sept 1).
Next year’s schedule will call for all club’s to play 19 games against divisional opponents (76 division games total). Those games will be played in six series – three at home and three on the road.
Each club will play either six or seven games vs. non-divisional League opponents (66 games will be played against non-divisional League opponents). These six or seven games will be played in two series – one at home and one on the road.
There will be a total of 20 Interleague games played by each team throughout the regular season. These 20 games will be played in eight series – four at home and four on the road. Interleague series featuring prime rivals will include back-to-back two –game series. The Angels and Dodgers will square off May 27-28 in Los Angeles before switching to Anaheim for two more games on May 29th & 30th.
The 2013 schedule features Interleague contests against the Reds (April 1, 3-4), Los Angeles (May 27-30), Chicago Cubs (June 4-5, July 9-10), Pittsburgh (June 21-23), St. Louis (July 2-4) and Milwaukee (Aug. 30-Sept. 1).
