Halos hire Araujo as PA announcer

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Angels have hired Michael Araujo as their new public-address announcer for home games at Angel Stadium.

Araujo takes over for David Courtney, who passed away at age 56 in late November and served as the voice of the Angels -- while also doing so for the Los Angeles Kings and Clippers -- for the last 18 years.

Araujo, fluent in English and Spanish, has served as the PA announcer for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy since 2002. A lifelong Angels fan who resides in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Araujo was one of three finalists who announced an Angels game at Tempe Diablo Stadium early in Spring Training.
