April 24, 2009
One of the most valued aspects of a professional sports franchise is the support an organization receives from the local community. Throughout the ups and downs of a season, that relationship remains a very important one.
The senseless tragedy of April 9th affected not only our organization, but the entire community as well. Since that time, we have been greatly impressed by the outpouring of support directed toward the families of Nick, Courtney, Henry and Jon. From the memorials created in front of the stadium and corner of the accident, to the cards and letters directed to our attention, your thoughts, prayers and best wishes have made a difference.
As we continue to struggle with our own individual questions of why, I am reminded that true character is revealed in the most difficult and challenging of times. The grieving will be different for everyone, and the hurt and heartache will not easily disappear. Your thoughtful words and gestures have been felt by our personnel, and continue to have a profound effect on each of the families.
The Angels organization will maintain the memory of Nick for years to come, and will continue extending our support to the Adenhart family. The same will hold true for the families of Courtney, Henry and Jon as well.
On Friday, April 10th, during an emotional pre-game tribute, I witnessed a stadium filled with individuals wanting to make a difference. On behalf of the Angels family, I would like to thank everyone for the impact you have made each and every day since.
