MINNEAPOLIS -- To show their support for Boston after the bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday, the Twins played "Sweet Caroline" in the middle of the seventh inning of their game against the Angels at Target Field on Tuesday.

The song by Neil Diamond, which is a staple during the eighth inning at games at Fenway Park, was played throughout the ballpark after the seventh-inning stretch. The Twins were one of several teams across baseball to play the song in tribute to Boston.

The Twins also held a moment of silence before the game to honor those lost and affected by the events at the Boston Marathon. The flags on Target Plaza in right field flew at half-staff.

"It never makes any sense," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said about the bombings. "It's sad to see. I guess we'll find more in the coming days what this all means. But it's sad. People were just enjoying a race."
