Angels third baseman activated from DL; Romine optioned

Callaspo returns to lineup against Orioles

ANAHEIM -- Slowly but surely the Angels appear to be getting healthier.

Earlier this week shortstop Erick Aybar was activated from the disabled list, and prior to Friday's game against the Orioles, third baseman Alberto Callaspo was activated as well.

"Finally we are back and we're going to give 100 percent to the team," Callaspo said.

To make room for Callaspo -- who has been on the disabled list with a right calf strain since April 19 -- infielder Andrew Romine was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Callaspo, who was hitting .273 in nine games this season, played the past three days on a rehab assignment with Class A Inland Empire where he went 2-for-7 with a home run.

"I was trying to work out and look for some pitches," Callaspo said of his rehab stint. "I came back quick. I just want to play here. It was sore [the first day back] but now it feels good."

Callaspo hit seventh and was in Friday's lineup at third base for the Angels.
