KANSAS CITY -- The Angels will likely start right-hander Billy Buckner on Saturday against the Royals.
Buckner would be the 21st pitcher used by the Angels this year. The club record for pitchers used in a season is 29.
"That's the direction, hopefully, that we'll be able to go," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He'll go as long and as hard as he can. I think he'll be fine."
Buckner was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on May 16. He made eight starts this season with the Bees, posting a 4-2 record with a 4.56 ERA.
Buckner will face the team that drafted him. Kansas City was Buckner's first stop in the Major Leagues and he got his first big league win with the Royals in 2007.
