Scioscia said Abreu injured the toe while running to first base during a groundout to shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt in the first inning. Abreu was replaced in right field by Gary Matthews Jr., who had started the game in left. Juan Rivera came in to play left field.
Abreu was first examined by Seattle team doctor Mitch Storey, and then went for X-rays, which came back normal.
"It'll just be a couple days," said Scioscia, who described the injury as a sprain. "It doesn't look like it's too serious."
