ANAHEIM -- In hopes of becoming the first Angels position player to start the All-Star Game since Vladimir Guerrero in 2007, Mike Trout is holding steady.

When the latest fan-voting results for the American League were released on Saturday, Trout remained second among outfielders, sporting 2,710,115 votes to trail Orioles center fielder Adam Jones by a little more than 30,000. Trout ranks fourth overall among all AL players -- also behind Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera (3,277,890) and Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (2,999,094).

"It makes you feel good, knowing that you have fans watching you, rooting for you," said Trout, who led AL outfielders with a .915 OPS heading into Saturday's game. "It's a special feeling inside."

Trout's mentor, Torii Hunter, dropped from third to fourth, now trailing the Orioles' Nick Markakis by less than 40,000.

Albert Pujols (fourth among first basemen), Mark Trumbo (fifth among designated hitters) and Josh Hamilton (12th among outfielders) still look like long shots to get voted into the starting lineup, but the one who needs more love is Howie Kendrick.

Kendrick went into Saturday trailing only Robinson Cano in OPS among AL second basemen, at .850, while batting .328 with a .370 on-base percentage and eight homers, which already equals last year's total.

But right now, he isn't even among the top 5 in fan votes at his position.
