Bourjos won't place blame for slump on injured wrist

ANAHEIM -- When Peter Bourjos was activated from the disabled list, he admitted there was still some discomfort in his wrist, and in the five games since he has rejoined the Angels, he is 0-for-18.

It would be easy for Bourjos to simply say his wrist is hampering him at the plate, but the center fielder insists that is not the case.

"It's just the timing of getting back into it," Bourjos said of his struggles. "It's been five games. I'm not going to read too much into it. Coming off of not playing for six weeks and it's just more timing than anything."

Bourjos was also seen fiddling with his wrist after crashing into the center-field wall attempting to rob Carlos Santana of a home run in the seventh inning of Tuesday's game.

However, Bourjos simply said that was a reaction to hitting the wall and that his wrist is OK.

As for the struggles at the plate, Bourjos has seen his average drop from .333 to .293 during this stretch, but his manager expects the hits to start coming.

"Hopefully his swings are improving a little bit and he'll get out there and find a comfort zone," manager Mike Scioscia said.
