Maicer Izturis' throwing error in the 13th inning let the winning run score as the Angels lost a thriller to go down, 0-2, in the series.
Angels closer Brian Fuentes had Alex Rodriguez in an 0-2 count with a one-run lead in the 11th inning, but he surrendered a tying homer that just cleared the right-field wall and the glove of a leaping Bobby Abreu.

Saunders was outstanding in arguably the biggest start of his career, yielding just two runs on six hits over seven innings. He was assisted by three double plays that helped end New York rallies in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Aybar drove in Izturis in the fifth inning on a single, then flashed his speed by stealing second base with A.J. Burnett on the mound. He scored the tying run later in the frame on a wild pitch by Burnett with the bases loaded and two outs and Vladimir Guerrero at the plate.
Guerrero twice came up with the bases loaded and couldn't deliver, going 1-for-7 on the night with two strikeouts. He left a total of eight runners on base.
Sense of October

Comment: Saunders made just two mistakes all night but paid for both of them when Robinson Cano hit an RBI triple in the second and Derek Jeter hit an opposite-field homer in the third. But Saunders clearly had his good stuff working, striking out five and inducing the three double plays.
"I think [Izturis] was trying to make a little too much of that play. You're not going to turn two. If we get an out on any basem we're in good shape."-- Angels manager Mike Scioscia on Izturis' error
The Angels will head back to Anaheim to host the Yankees for Game 3 at Angel Stadium on Monday at 1:13 p.m. PT on FOX. Right-hander Jered Weaver will toe the rubber against Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte.
