The 26-year-old right-hander exited immediately after that, paving the way for lefty Wade LeBlanc and making it the shortest outing by an Angels starter since Jered Weaver on May 28, 2012.
Umpires are allowed to consult replay on home run calls without having the manager use his challenge.
