CHICAGO -- There's a "strong to quite strong" chance that Fernando Salas could rejoin the Angels' bullpen before they finish up their current road trip, manager Mike Scioscia said, channeling a "Meet The Parents" line to suggest that his veteran reliever has come along faster than the club expected.

Salas, on the disabled list since June 15 because of inflammation in his right shoulder, threw an intense, 25-pitch bullpen session at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday and felt good on Monday. The 29-year-old right-hander will throw another bullpen session on Tuesday and is on track to be activated by Wednesday's series finale at U.S. Cellular Field.

"The only question is whether or not I'll have to [go on a rehab assignment]," said Salas, who has a 2.96 ERA in 28 appearances. "They feel like I may not need it."
