Angels manager Mike Scioscia challenged the call and initiated the review. Officials at the Replay Command Center at MLB.com headquarters in New York ruled that Aybar's foot touched the bag and Ethier was erased.
Scioscia said he was getting clarification from the umpires about the "neighborhood play," where an infielder can take a good throw at second without touching the base and still earn the out, before challenging the play.
"If he was called out, you can't go out and challenge that if it's a good throw," Scioscia said. "Once he's called safe, then it has to become a challenge."
Turner reached first on a fielder's choice. The Dodgers led, 2-0, at the time of the review and the Angels escaped the inning unscathed.
